Obituary:
Ira L.Thomas, age 84, passed away March 10, 2015, at his home in Mountain View, following a long struggle with heart trouble and Parkinsons disease.

Ira was born at Gayler, AR on July 27, 1930, to Austin and Jewell Gayler Thomas.

He was a veteran of the United States Army where he was the recipient of the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars. He taught school in Mountain View and in Henderson, NV. He and Imogene were later in the motel business until their retirement.

Ira was a member of Flatwoods Missionary Baptist Church where he and Imogene were instrumental in starting a bus ministry years ago and where he enjoyed the fellowship with his church family especially the Livewires.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Imogene Foster Thomas; one brother, Larry Gayler Thomas; two nephews, Greg Thomas and Joey Thomas and family; one uncle, Carl Gayler and many nephews, nieces, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Austin and Jewell Thomas.

Funeral services will be held at Flatwoods Missionary Baptist Church in Mountain View on March 12, 2015 at 11:00am. Burial in Flatwoods Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

The pallbearers are Don Thomas, Dennie Anderson, Ronnie Anderson, Reese Tubbs, Larry Lawrence, Danny Thomas, Carlos Jones, and Weldon Duncan.

Honorary pallbearers are Bo Willingham, Tom Hector, Tom Williams, J.T. Altman, Flynn Norman, Scott Flippo, Jim Hinkle, Jeff Dobbins, Jack Thomas, and the staff and deacons of Flatwoods Missionary Baptist Church.
