January 12, 1889 - March 1, 1968
Clarence V. Whitten, 79, of 1301 Roselawn St., died Friday morning in a local hospital following an illness of several months. Born at Prattsville Jan. 12, 1889, he was the son of Cicero and Ida Mae Gregory Whitten. He has been a resident of El Dorado since 1923, and was formerly employed by the Lion Oil Co. He was retired from the Greenville, Miss. local of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union. Survivors include two sons, Hollin J. Whitten of El Dorado, and Paul M. Whitten of Houston, Tex.; one daughter, Mrs. Novice Mae Elin of El Dorado; a brother, Lynn Whitten of Jones Mill; one sister, Mrs. Ima Tull of Prattsville; and one grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Rumph Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Woodrow Benton officiaiting. Interment will be in Arlington Cemetery. The family will be at the Hollin Whitten residence, 3119 Whitten St. (El Dorado Times - March 1, 1968)
