O. E. (Jelly) Burnside, 58, of El Dorado, died Monday morning in a local nursing home following a lengthy illness. Born April 6, 1912, at Farmerville, La., he was the son of Vasco and Carrie Kennedy Burnside. Mr. Burnside had been a resident of El Dorado for the past 35 years. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include a son, Randall Burnside of El Dorado; three daughters, Mrs. Herbie Peppers of El Dorado, Mrs. John Austin of Pine Bluff, and Mrs. Robert Lee of Larose, La.; four brothers, V. K. Burnside, Powell Burnside and Walter Burnside, all of El Dorado, and John Burnside of Village; two sisters, Mrs. A. G. Kelly and Mrs. J. E. Brasher, both of El Dorado; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Rumph Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Mrs. Herbie Peppers, Dunbar Addition. (El Dorado Times - February 22, 1971)
