Gene Raymond Hayes, 76, of El Dorado, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at his residence following a lengthy illness. Born May 20, 1934, in Gladewater, TX, he was the son of George Washington and Mattie Mae Jelks Hayes. Mr. Hayes was a member of Masonic Lodge #13 of El Dorado. He was of the Baptist faith. Preceding him in death, along with his parents, were a son, Randell G. Hayes, a great-granddaughter, Alicia Lynn Hayes, and a brother, Robert Hayes. Survivors include his wife, Lois W. Hayes of El Dorado, two sons, Richard Wayne Hayes and his wife Bennie Gail of Springfield, MO, and Russell Alan Hayes of El Dorado, and a daughter, Jeannie Reaves of Atlanta, TX. Also surviving are two brothers, Jimmy Dean Hayes of Tyler, TX, and Geroge Ray Hayes of Sulphur, LA, and one sister, Flora Kay Vickery of Victoria, TX; and 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at Arlington Memorial Park with Kay Rudell officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church Building Fund, 701 South West Ave., El Dorado, or to the John R. Williamson Hospice House, 2301 Champagnolle Road, El Dorado, AR 71730.
