A Memorial Service for Elizabeth Joe Rice Elliott of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 22, with visitation beginning at 1 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church, with Reverend Jarrell Tyson officiating.
Elizabeth passed away May 14, 2015, in Mountain Home, at the age of 78. She was born July 20, 1936, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Truman and Alicia Reusser Rice. She worked for 40 years as a registered nurse, specializing in vascular surgery, and earned her bachelor's degree in Anthropology in 1975. She had a passion for genealogy and dreamt of one day building a Christian conference center on 154 acres of wilderness property that she owned in Marion County. Elizabeth lived in Mountain Home for 28 years, having moved from Chatsworth, California.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Candice Elliott (Jim Kotcon) of Morgantown, West Virginia; two sons, Kendal (Cathy) Elliott of Laurel, Maryland, and Cory (Sharon) Elliott of Burbank, California; five grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren; sister, Ruth Friend of Palmer, Alaska; sister-in-law, Ernestine Rice-Engemine of Atchison, Kansas; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Steven Rice; and an aunt and uncle, Ruth and Clay Sloan.
She was buried privately in the Norfork Cemetery, Norfork, Arkansas.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks, 701 Burnett Drive, Mountain Home, AR 72653.
