Elijah Whitfield, age 72, Waldo, formerly, of Dallas, TX, died Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Dubuis Health Systems- Wadley Hospital of Texarkana, TX. Mr. Whitfield was born November 8, 1941 in Tarry, AR. He is the son of the late Elihue and the late Mae (Allmon) Whitfield. He married Mae West.


He was employed as a cross-country truck driver for Standard Food and Vegetables and as a fork lift operator for Weyerhauser until his health failed. Mr. Whitfield was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish and the thrill of watching things grow in his garden. He having professed his faith in Christ, enjoyed singing in the New Faith Baptist Church Choir in Dallas, TX. He was also a member of AARP and was a past Mason.


He is survived by his wife: Mae (West) Whitfield , sons Gregory Whitfield of Texarkana, TX, Richard Whitfield of Waldo, AR and Darryl Whitfield and two daughters Joyce Whitfield, and Evette Whitfield, all of Dallas, TX; one brother: Theodis Whitfield of Grady, AR; 15 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.


He was predeceased by his brother, Owell Whitfield, and three sisters, Lillie Hale, Gertrude McCoy, and his twin, Eliza Whitfield.


The funeral will be held 1:30 pm on Saturday, June 14 at Free Union Missionary Baptist Church, 2015 S. Washington, Magnolia, AR with Rev. Timothy Biddle, officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Emerson, under the direction of Henderson Funeral Service.


Calling hours will be Friday, June 13 from Noon-4:00 pm at Henderson's Mortuary, Inc., 614 Calhoun Rd, Magnolia, AR. Online guestbook available at www.hendersonsmortuary.com.
