US Army
November 2, 1934 - December 9, 2013
*Obituary - Marks Funeral Home
Henry was born to the late Jimmie L. Clayton and Ethel L. Cooper in Emerson, Arkansas on November 2, 1934. He departed this earthly journey on December 9, 2013, at Wadley Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas.
His early education took place in the McMittress School System. He later joined the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge. Henry worked at Southern Arkansas University (the Southern State College) for 38 years. His dedication and integrity were deeply appreciated by his employers and coworkers. During his tenure he received many tributes, certificates and awards.
Henry joined Pine Hill CME Church at an early age. He moved to Magnolia, AR, where he remained until his death. He was married to Maxine Moore for 25 years until her death on June29, 2013. To this union a daughter, Linda Bouie (Harry) of Las Vegas, NV, was born.
Henry had three children from a prior marriage in 1964 to Marva J. Baker: Sandra Clayton Buffington of Wichita, KS; Michael H. Clayton of Irving, TX; one son, Henry Lee Clayton, Jr., preceded him in death after only a few short cherished months in their lives.
His favorite pastime was playing the guitar and we thoroughly enjoyed family times sitting around being entertained by his seemingly untiring love for this instrument. His other hobbies included boxing and watching wrestling, both televised and live matches.
