Joseph "Bob" Thompson, Jr., 68, of Fayetteville died Thursday, Nov. 30, 1995, at Community Hospital in Wagner, Okla.

Born Aug. 6, 1927, in Fayetteville, the son of Joseph and Christine Hayes Thompson, he was employed at Woodruff's Laundry for many years and retired after service to the Sigma Chi fraternity at the University of Arkansas. He was a well known rhythm and blues musician and played the piano and keyboards with various groups in the area, including The Buddy Hayes Band, and in recent years, entertained with the name of "Jo Jo" Thompson. He was also a member of St. James Methodist Church in Fayetteville.

Survivors are his mother, Christine Hayes Coleman of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three daughters, Brenda K. Thompson of Fayetteville, Arlene Hollins of Fort Smith and Cynthia Douglas of Fort Smith; a son, William Thompson of Fayetteville; several brothers and sisters; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. James Methodist Church in Fayetteville, with the Rev. J.R. Dibble and the Rev. Charles Coleman officiating. Burial will be in Oak Cemetery in Fayetteville. Visitation will be held from 3-9 p.m. today and from 1-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nelson's Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
