Wendell H. Gorman, age 75, of Strong died in a local hospital Tuesday morning after a short illness. He was born in Old Hillsboro, Ark., the son of T. M. and Margaret Larkin Gorman. He was a retired postmaster of Strong, a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of Lodge 591 of the Shriners Club of Strong. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Inez Slater Gorman; a daughter, Miss Elizabeth Gorman, and two sisters, Mrs. J. P. Jackson of Mt. Vernon, Tex., and Mrs. O. C. Banderant of El Dorado. Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. S. M. Williamson and Rev. A. L. Chaffin officiating. Burial followed in the Strong Cemetery under the direction of Pratt Funeral Home. Pallbearers were M. E. Harper, Charles Johnson, Grady McMath, John Lee Jones, Charles Lewis, Jim Bob Burgess, Reed Fike and Dr. Fred F. Cook. Honorary pallbearers will be friends of the family.
