Rubin Rance Duck, 84, a stockman of Strong, died in an El Dorado hospital at 7 a.m. Thursday after a long illness. Mr. Duck was born in Dadeville, Ala., Jan. 6, 1881, the son of M. A. and Dora Harris Duck. He had lived in Strong for the last 50 years and was a member of the Methodist Church of Strong. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Gurtha Vestal Duck; and two sisters, Mrs. J. Y. Maroney of Strong and Mrs. Viola Lawrence of San Diego, Calif. He leaves also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Strong with Rev. A. L. Chaffin officiating assisted by Rev. S. M. Williamson. Interment will follow in the Strong Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. Pallbearers will be H. J. Maroney, J. A. Maroney, E. K. Maroney, Joe Maroney, Burk Duck and Robert A. Duck. The will be taken to the church at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. (The El Dorado Times - February 27, 1965)
