FAYETTEVILLE — Richard Emerson Carr, 55. of Fayetteville, Ark., was gracefully called to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, Sept. 28, 2012. Richard was born April 21, 1957, to the parents of Jack and Ernestine Carr.

He was a member of the Combs Street Church of Christ. As a graduate of Fayetteville High School, he excelled in track, setting records that could not be matched during his tenure.

He also played football, holding the position of tailback, and his outdoor sports were fishing and golf.

He worked in the sheetmetal industry as the first African-American employed in the business in Arkansas and worked for over 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Ernest Carr.

Survivors include his wife, Windy Carr of the home; two sons, Quan Carr and Coy Carr and wife, Katie, all of Fayetteville; one daughter, Chantel Murphy of the home; two granddaughters, Miah Carr and Rayven Carr of Fayetteville; three brothers, Terry Carr, Jeffrey Carr, both of Fayetteville, and Kelly Carr and wife, Kathy, of Springdale; one sister, Juanita Carr of Little Rock, Ark.; and many other family members and close friends.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at Combs Street Church of Christ in Fayetteville. Burial will be in Oak Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Beard's Funeral Chapel.
