Richard Elmer Bailey, 84, of Clinton, brother of Charles M. Bailey of Conway, died Monday (May 8, 2000) at McClellan Veterans Hospital.
Born March 6, 1916 in Bee Branch, a son of the late Samuel Marion and Maggie Lena Osborne Bailey, he retired from the U. S Army a Master Sergeant after serving in World War II and Korea from 1939 to 1957. He was also a retired gun repairman.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Glen Edward Bailey; two sisters, Gladys Bailey and Florence Bailey; and six brothers, Steve Bailey, James Bailey, Sam Bailey, Johnie Bailey, Albert Bailey and David Bailey.
He is also survived by one son, Richard Thomas Bailey of Connecticut; four sisters, Mae Badgley and Dessie Sprague of California, Fanny Smith of Oklahoma and Lucy Jurgensen of Nebraska.
Interment will be in Colony Cemetery and cremation was arranged by Roller McNutt Funeral Home of Clinton.
