March 13, 1899 - February 19, 1970
Miss Sallie Burgess, 70, of Strong, died Thursday night in a local hospital following a brief illness. She was born March 13, 1899 in Strong, the daughter of John W. and Josphine Howard Burgess. Miss Burgess was a retired school teacher having taught in Union County schools for 43 years before her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Strong. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. I. E. Vestal of Strong, and Mrs. John Johnson of San Juan, Tex. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Strong with the Rev. S. M. Williamson officiating. Burial will be in the Strong Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. The body will be taken to the church at noon Saturday. The family will be at the Darrel Wooley residence in Strong.
