August 14, 1897 - September 9, 1948
William O. Beaver, aged 51, operator of the Highway Cafe at Chidester, died suddenly at 7:45 p.m. Thursday in his cafe of a heart attack. Mr. Beaver was standing behind the cash register when he suddenly slumped to the floor. Death came almost instantly. There were several customers in the cafe at the time. He had been in good health and had never had any previous heart attacks, his family said. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Johnny and Bobby of Chidester; four brothers, Albert, Ed. Oscar, and Connie, all of Ouachita county; and one sister, Mrs. Arthur Sweatman of Camden. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Chidester Methodist Church by the Rev. H. R. Nabors. Burial will be in Chidester cemetery, Mathis funeral home will be in charge. The body was returned to the home in Chidester this afternoon by the funeral home. (Camden News - September 10, 1948)
