1912 - June 21, 1973

Hugh Aarant, 61, of Cincinnati, Ohio, died in a hospital there Thursday night. He was Chief Appraiser of Army Corps of Engineers, and served as an officer with the United States Navy during World War II. He was an elder in the Presbyterian Church. Mr. Aarant was born in Chidester, graduated from the College of the Ozarks, and did graduate work at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. The body will arrive in Camden today, and funeral arrangements will be announced by Proctors. Mr. Aarant is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lois Crosser Aarant; three daughters, Mrs. Van Berger of Tucson, Ariz., Mrs. Gayle Couch of Galveston, Tex.; and Mrs. Pamela McCombs of Temple, Tex., his mother, Mrs. Walter N. Aarant of Chidester; four sisters, Mrs. Lois Smith of Clarksville, Mrs. Lee Purifoy of Chidester, Mrs. Bennie Speers of Smackover, and Mrs. Erdyce Towns of New York City, and two grandchildren.
