WINSLOW — Bobby Gene Watson of Winslow, Ark., died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, at the Fayetteville Veteran's Hospital. Bob was born June 11, 1937, in Boomer, Ark.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Lillie Watson; his son, Raymond Keith Watson; and two brothers, Elmer Raymond Watson and Danny Joe Watson.
Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Katie Ann Watson; one son, Bobby Joe Watson of Fayetteville, Ark.; and three daughters, Vicky Lynn Daylie of Hot Springs, Ark., Mary Katherine Young of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Susan Ann Watson of Winslow, Ark.; two grandsons; two great-granddaughters; one brother and four sisters.
Bob retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1975 after 20 years of honorable service to his country, then began a second career as carpenter and handyman. His spare time was filled with outdoor activities, including gardening
and hunting. He was proud to be a charter member and officer of the VFW post 10843.
The family would like to think the staff of the Fayetteville Veteran's Home for the excellent care and compassion they provided during Bob's final days.
Friends and family are invited to gather to remember Bob on Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the West Fork Community Center in West Fork, Ark.
In honor of Bob's love of children, memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children Research Hospital, Attention: Tribute Program, P.O. Box 10000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148; phone 800-822-6344.

WINSLOW — Katie Ann Watson, 71, of Winslow, died Sunday in Fayetteville. She was born Oct. 7, 1940, in Prairie Grove, Ark., the daughter of Raymond Chase and Jean Clark Chase.
Katie dedicated her life to volunteering to youth organizations, including scouting and 4-H, before becoming a charter member and officer of VFW Post 10843 and a member of VFW ladies auxiliary.
Katie was preceded in death by her husband, of 54 years, Bobby G. Watson; and son, Raymond Keith Watson.
Survivors include three daughters, Vicky L. Dayle of Hot Springs, Ark., Mary K. Young of Kalamazoo, Mich., Susan A. Watson of Winslow, Ark.; son, Bobby J. Watson of Fayetteville; sister, Erma J. Chase of Winslow, Ark.; brother, Richard K. Chase of Winslow, Ark.; two grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.
The family request that memorials in her name be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital, 1 Children's Way, Little Rock, AR 72202-3591.
Private family service will be held, Thursday, April 5, 2012.
Moore's Chapel handled the cremation arrangements.
