Moss Hill (African-American) Cemetery
Ouachita County, Arkansas

September 5, 1912 - September 4, 1970

Two persons were killed and a third was hospitalized Friday afternoon following a car and train collision inside the city limits of Bearden. The dead were identified as Milay Allbright Brown, 56 and her six month old daughter, Brenda Brown. Mrs. Brown's granddaughter, Linda Hughs, aged 9, was hospitalized at Camden with serious injuries. State Trooper R. W. Seal, who investigated the accident, said Mrs. Brown was driving south on School Street and pulled onto the tracks into the path of the westbound frieght. The engineer on the train was R. D. Steed, 44 of El Dorado. Seal said the auto was thrown approximately 75 feet and the two bodies were thrown another 40 feet from the point of impact. Kenneth Watson of Watson's Ambulance Service said the little Hughs girl was lying about 15 feet from the wreckage. The accident happened about a quarter of a mile from Mrs. Brown's home.
