ROGERS — Ancel "Ray" Matthew Sr., 64, of Rogers died June 22, 2000, at his home. He was born Nov. 20, 1935, in Springdale to Adah L. Claypool. He was a retired brickmason and a member of Sunny Side Baptist Church in Rogers.

Survivors include his wife, Alvalene Crownover-Matthew of the home and to whom he was married June 30, 1957; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ancel Ray Matthew Jr. and Vilma of Batesville, Tom Matthew and Teresa of Rogers and Eddy Matthew and Lisa of Elizabeth; two daughters and one son-in-law, Gayla Thorne of FLippin and Dana Littleford and Ron of Illinois; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers with the Rev. Marvin Stephens and Elvis Dudley officiating. Burial will be in Stuckey Cemetery at Johnson. Pallbearers will be Bobby Davis, Tammy Tabor, Jimmy Coy Miller, J.C. Gregory, Charles Gregory, John Gregory and Jack Gregory. Honorary pallbearers will be area brickmasons.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may he made to Circle of Life Hospice, P.O. Box 349, Springdale, 72765.

Alvalene (Crownover) Matthew, age 80, departed this life on Friday, October 26, 2018 in Gepp, Arkansas. She was born to the late Eugene Crownover and Virble Inez (Reed) Crownover on January 16, 1938 in Gassville, Arkansas.

Alvalene was united in marriage to Ancel Ray Matthew, Sr. on June 30, 1957 in Cleveland, Mississippi and to this union five children were born. Alvalene spent her working years as a press operator for Tyson Print Shop and was a member of the Whiteville Baptist Church in Gassville, Arkansas. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and friend.

She leaves to mourn her passing, three sons, Ray Matthew, Jr. and wife Sherry of Agnos, Arkansas, Tom Matthew and wife Teresa of Lincoln, Arkansas and Ed Matthew and wife Cathy of Viola, Arkansas; two daughters, Gayla Matthew of Gepp, Arkansas and Dana Littleford and husband Ron of Gepp, Arkasnas; nineteen grandchildren; thirty nine great grandchildren; one great great grandson; brother, Jerry Crownover and wife Judy of Everton, Missouri; sister, Carol Tucker and husband Ernie of Springfield, Missouri; many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, infant sister and daughter-in-law (Wilma Matthew).

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Whiteville Baptist Church in Gassville, Arkansas with Bro. Larry Ring officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. until time of service on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Whiteville Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Whiteville Cemetery in Gassville, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be John Dale Tyler, Jason Downs, Freddie Crownover, Paul Tucker, Steve Crownover and Lyndle Crownover. Honorary pallbearers will be David Tucker, Dale Crownover and Darrel Crownover. Memorials may be made to Whiteville Cemetery Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
