William Andrew {Dick} Evans was born Feb. 28, 1851 and died Feb. 3, 1925 at his home 2 miles south of Cave Springs. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church of Cave Springs. Interment was made in the Phillips cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. Henry of Elm Springs. "Uncle Dick," as he was called, came with his parents from Missouri at the age of four years. Benton county has been his home ever since with the exception of two years spent in Texas. He was married to Martha Pace in the year 1871. Unto this union was born eight children, Edmond dying in infancy and a daughter, Mrs. Pearl Shook, nine years ago. He is survived by his wife and six children, James T. of Bentonville; Mrs. Maggie Smith of Healing Springs; William, J. Frank and Susie Shook, all of Cave Springs; and Mrs. Della Williams of Sardis, Okla. There are thirteen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter and three brothers and one sister: Mrs. Martha Brown of Hightop neighborhood; Jesse of Vaughn; George and Jeff of Mason Valley, who survive him. He was converted four years ago and joined the Spring Creek Baptist church. He was an earnest Christian, having all faith in "The Old Time Religion" of which he loved to sing.
