Identity Confirmed Of Man Who Died
FAYETTEVILLE — Matthew Chance Tallant, 25, of Lowell was confirmed as the man who died while water skiing on Beaver Lake on Wednesday, according to Stephanie Weatherington, a captain with the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission in little Rock.
Kelly Cantrell, a spokeswoman with the Washington County Sheriff's Office, identified the man. Weatherington said officials believe he died from a pre-existing heart condition.
First responders were reportedly called about 4 p.m. Wednesday to Beaver Lake, near the Beav-O-Rama community.
Weatherington said Tallant was skiing behind a boat when he signaled he was finished and tired. He reportedly climbed into the boat and fell back into the water. He was taken to Washington Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Weatherington said Tallant may have suffered a fatal heart attack.

LOWELL — Matthew Chance Tallant, 25, of Lowell died Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born June 22, 1987, in Dumas, Texas.
Matthew enjoyed wake boarding and being around small children. He graduated from Rogers High School in 2006 and had a wicked sense of humor. He collected John Deere tractors and memorabilia.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Elmer L. Solko; and special aunt, K'Alice Breinig.
He is survived by his parents, Alicia and Kelly Russell of Lowell; two sisters, Kylie Russell, and Jessica Scoggin and husband, Steven, an of Great Falls, Mont.; grandmother, Barbara Solko of Springdale; and several aunts and uncles, including Elmer R. Solko of Fayetteville, Barry and Dawn Solko of Springfield, Mo., and Judy Bacon of Fayetteville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Springdale, with Father John Connell officiating. Interment will be at Goad Springs Cemetery in Lowell.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Heritage Funeral Home in Springdale; online guest book at www.heritageofnwa.com.
