Jasper "J.W." Maddox, 62, of Gravette died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 1994, at his home.
Born July 5, 1932, at Caldwell, Texas, a son of U.D. Maddox and Thelma Smith Maddox, he worked most of his life in feed mills, including managing George's Mill in Springdale. He was affiliated with the Church of Christ, was a veteran of the Arkansas National Guard and was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors are his wife, Virgie Maddox of the home; three children, Leta Gonzales of Gravette, Jay Maddox of Pittsburg, Kan., and Bobbie Maddox of Gravette; a brother, J.C. Maddox of Spring, Texas; and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Assembly of God in Gravette with the Rev. Jack Austin and the Rev. Ed DeLapp officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery near Gravette under the direction of the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

Virgie Leta Ratzlaff 75, of Chetopa, KS, passed away September 25, 2012, in Oswego, KS. She was born December 12, 1936 in Gravette, AR to Bus and Goldie Meek. Virgie married Sam Ratzlaff on June 26, 2009 in Miami, OK. Virgie has been a loving wife, devoted mother and Grandmother. She was of the Christian faith and attended the Assembly of God Church in Chetopa, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband; JW Maddox, two brothers; Dale Meek and Dean Meek, and one sister Bonnie Faye Jones, and one infant daughter; Cleta Maddox.
Survivors include: husband Sam Ratzlaff of the Home
One daughter: Leta Gonzales and husband Freddie of Siloam Springs, AR
Two Sons: Jay Maddox and wife Denise of Springfield, MO
Bobbie Maddox of Gravette, AR
Four Stepdaughters: Lisa Schaffer and husband Tom of Yuma, AZ
Marla Hart and husband Roy of Chetopa, KS
Karla Littlejohn of Chetopa, KS
Kerrie Burton of Chetopa, KS
One Stepson: Don Ratzlaff of Yuma, AZ
One Brother: Bob Meek and Wife Joan of Decatur, AR.
Several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
Visitation will be on Saturday, September 29, from 11-1 pm at the Assembly of God Church in Gravette, AR. Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, September 29, at the Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Jack Deaton officiating. Burial will follow the service at Bethel Cemetery near Gravette, AR.
