Cpl. Johnson Dies of Wounds in France
Springdale, Oct. 9-(Special)- Cpl. Elmer Johnson, Jr., 28, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Johnson of Springdale, died September 12 of wounds suffered in France, the War Department notified his parents today. He had been reported wounded September 11, in a message which his parents received September 26.
A former assistant cashier with the First State bank of Springdale. Corporal Johnson was a graduate of Springdale High School and of the Fayetteville Business College. He married the former Miss Lois Jones, who lives with her parents near Springdale.
He has been in the service 21 months, having been inducted in Little Rock and trained at Fort Sill. He was sent to England last April.
