John T. "Big John" Johnson, 85, of Cassville, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, at Cassville. He was born Sept. 2, 1921, in Knobel, the son of Warney and Pearl Norton Johnson. He retired in 1978 from his position as truck driver from Arkansas Best Freight. He served in the 274th Infantry Regiment in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Springdale.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie Johnson of the home; one stepson, Mike Luna and wife Leslie of Cassville; stepdaughter, Gayle Radford and husband Charlie of Lincoln; one stepson, Jerry Luna and wife Terry of Lincoln; stepgrandchildren; 27 step-great-grandchildren; four step-great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Warren Johnson, sister, Genivive Cooper and granddaughter, Ginger Harrington.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 27 at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville, online at www.nelsonberna.com.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28 at Temple Baptist Church in Springdale with the Rev. Don Elmore officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery.

CASSVILLE, Mo. - Mattie L. Johnson, 93, of Cassville, Mo., formerly of Springdale, Ark., passed away Monday, March 18, 2013, in Cassville. She was born Nov. 30, 1919, in East Bernard, Texas, to John D. Roe and Fannie (Smith) Roe.

She was retired from Allen Canning Company and was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Springdale.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years and father to her three children, Gerald Ray "Jerry" Luna Sr.; her second husband, John T. "Big John" Johnson; three brothers, Jim Ford Roe, Jay Dee Roe and John Henry Roe; one sister, Nannie Bell Roe Duncan; son-in-law, Charles Radford; and her granddaughter, Ginger Radford
Harrington.

She is survived by two sons, Roger M. Luna and wife, Leslie, of Cassville, Mo., and Jerry Luna and wife, Terry, of Lincoln, Ark.; one daughter, Gayle Radford of Lincoln, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 24, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 25, at Temple Baptist Church in Springdale with the Rev. Don Elmore officiating.

Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Springdale.
