LINDSEY, George Wright - Funeral services for George W. Lindsey, aged 75, one of the best known and most highly respected citizens of Benton County whose death occurred at his home four miles west of Sulphur Springs, Arkansas Tuesday morning, December 3rd, 1929 from a heart attack, were held Thursday morning, December 5th, at Fairview Baptist Chapel near his home. The funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Mayfield, pastor of the Baptist Church at Southwest City, Mo., were attended by many relatives and a great number of friends. Interment in the Fairview cemetery was in charge of the Masonic Order of which Mr. Lindsey had been a member for 50 years. George Wright Lindsey was born at Stockton, Cedar County, Mo. on January 4th, 1854. With his parents and other members of the family he moved to Arkansas when very young and settled in northwest Benton County, that section being his home practically all his life. Since the death of his wife a few years ago he has spent much of his time visiting with his married children in Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Iowa. He was converted at the age of 35 and had lived a consistent religious life. He was a charter member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church. Next to his love of his church and his Christian ideals came his love of Masonry, to which he had given allegiance for a half century or more. Besides his wife, three of his children had preceded him in death. Mr. Lindsey is survived by two sons, W.S. Lindsey of near Sulphur Springs and Price Lindsey of Des Moines, Iowa and four daughters: Mrs. W.P. Butterworth, Mounds, Okla.; Mrs. Nellie Williamson, Joplin, Mo.; Mrs. Mary Hockmuth and Mrs. Sadie McGlothen, both of Des Moines, Iowa. He is also survived by one brother and three sisters: B.S. Lindsey of Southwest City, Mo.; Mrs. Albert Majors of Bentonville, Ark.; Mrs. W.W. Thomasson of Nowata, Okla. and Mrs. John McDonald of Mill Creek, Mo. He was a brother of the late Judge Felix G. Lindsey of Bentonville, who was a past Grand Master of the Arkansas Grand Lodge of Masons. Pallbearers at Mr. Lindsey's funeral were grandsons and nephews, all of whom were Masons. All of the surviving children were present at the funeral except Mrs. Mary Hockmuth. Among the other relatives attending the funeral were Mr. Lindsey's sister, Mrs. Albert Majors, his sister-in-law, Mrs. Felix G. Lindsey, and nephew, Grover S. Lindsey, all of Bentonville.
