FAYETTEVILLE — Richard Hammer, 81, of Fayetteville died Jan. 27, 2002, at Fayetteville. He was born July 22, 1920, at Riverside, Calif., to Orval Kay and Louise Bernice Postle Hammer. He was a rural mail carrier for the Postal Service before his retirement and was an Army veteran serving with the 13th Armored Division. He was preceded in death by his wife.
Survivors include one son, Theron Hammer of Little Rock; one daughter, Donna Garner of Joplin, Mo.; one daughter-in-law, Kathy Ross of Springdale; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bluff Cemetery under the direction of Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
