Charles Benjamin Brewer, 72, of Rt. 3, died Wednesday in a local hospital. Born March 17, 1895, he was the son of Adolphus and Olivia Jane Webb Brewer. He was a Baptist and a resident of Union County for the past 40 years. He was a retired employee of Lion Oil Co. after 32 years of service. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Annie Rhodes Brewer of El Dorado; five sons, Morris Brewer and Charles Brewer, Jr., both of El Dorado, Jack B. Brewer of Kansas City, Ka., Lt. E. Royce Brewer with the U. S. Navy in Philadelphia, Pa. and Donald Ray Brewer of Alvin, Tex.; a daughter, Mrs. Doyle Black of El Dorado; two sisters, Mrs. T. H. King of Ponchatoula, La. and Mrs. Albert Zischang of Houston, Tex.; 19 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Young's Chapel with the Rev. Halbert Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Raymond West, Robert Crow, Jabo Wright, Howard Hawkins, Harry Dumas and Buddy Ramsey. The body was taken to the family residence at 1 p.m. Thursday and will remain there until 5 p.m. Thursday at which time it will be returned to Young's. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. A. D. Cathey, J. D. Little and Members of the 25-Year Club of Lion Oil Co. (El Dorado Times - December 7, 1967)
