Doris Trundle, 81, of Cordova, TN died Monday, September 8, 2015 at Quail Ridge Alzheimer’s Special Care Center. She was born February 8, 1934 in Wetmore, Kansas, to Leonard and Laura Mayer. She met her husband Claude Trundle when they were in the 7th grade. They were high school sweethearts, and got married March 10, 1951. She is survived by her brothers, Jim (Leota) Mayer and Rich (Pat) Mayer; both of California; son Dennis (Charlita) Trundle of Millington, TN, son David (Cheryl) Trundle of Dover, TN and daughter Lori (Eddie) Salera of Bartlett, TN. She also leaves behind six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Laura Mayer, sister, Donis McDaniel and her husband of 53 years, Claude Trundle. For many years she stayed home with her children and was involved in their childhood activities including Boy Scouts, Little League, Brownies and as a Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed 23 years as a Navy wife which included a trip to Zurich, Switzerland in 1971 and a trip to Singapore in 1973. In 1968 she began work as a secretary at NAS Millington, TN where she was employed for 15 years. In 1983 she and her husband retired to Mountain View, AR where she was involved in many volunteer and community activities and served as the church secretary at First United Methodist Church for many years. After her husband passed away she moved back to the Memphis area to be nearer to her children. There she served as a volunteer at the Saint Francis Hospital Bartlett. A memorial service will be held in Mountain View, AR on Monday, September 14 at 11 a.m.. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Crossroads Hospice or the Saint Francis Hospital Bartlett Auxiliary.
