HEWITT, Nelson - After a protracted and painful illness of several weeks, Nelson Hewitt has been gathered to his fathers. He died at his home five miles north of Fayetteville on the 5th instant. He was about 76 years old and had been a citizen of Washington county for more than fifty years. His course through life has been the most consistent for honesty and fair dealing in all his transactions with his fellow man and he "visited the widow and orphan in their afflictions." His death is a great loss to the community and to his bereaved family it is irreparable. None stood higher in the respects and affections of the people and the death of no one could be more sincerely mourned.
