Henry McElroy, 50, of Smackover, died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born in Smackover, Aug. 18, 1920, the son of Frank and Shirley Taylor McElroy. He was a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church and was a veteran of World War II. Survivors include five sons, Henry McElroy, Jr., U. S. Army, Germany, Clifford Leon McElroy, Vietnam, Gene Earl McElroy, Terry Wayne McElroy, all of Smackover; a daughter, Miss Verna Dean McElroy, Los Angeles, Calif.; and two sisters, Mrs. Mable Ames, Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Myrdia Hildreth Brown, Pine Bluff. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in Sweet Home Baptist Church, Smackover, with the Rev. W. J. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Hicks Cemetery, Norphlet, under the direction of Sims Mortuary. (El Dorado Times - January 15, 1971)
