R.C. “Snuffy” Crumpton, 84, of Mountain Pine, went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2014. He was born November 12, 1929 at Cedar Glades to Henry Clayton and Nora Myrtle Crumpton. R.C. was known by his cb handle “Snuffy”. R.C. was a member of Gum Springs United Methodist Church. R.C. retired after 32 years with Weyerhauser. He was an avid hunter, belonging to the Garland County Fox Hunters Association, Ouachita Fox Hunters Association and Dark Corner Hunting Club.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed. He was loved for his honesty and his “Big “stories that he loved to share and the laughter it brought to others. He had a great passion for his hunting dogs and all his hunting buddies. He never met a stranger. You could always find him sitting in front of his dog pen waiting on this next dog trade.
R.C. is predeceased by his parents, 4 children, Danny Ray Crumpton, Infant Crumpton, Brenda Crumpton and Cecil Eugene Crumpton, grandson, Lance Cosby, granddaughter, Lori Crumpton and brother, Billy Joe Crumpton.
Loving survivors include his wife of 62 years, Johnnie Mae Crumpton, of Mountain Pine; son, Robert Dewayne (Peggy) Crumpton, of Chuckey, Tennessee; son, David Alan (Bettina) Crumpton, of Mountain Pine; daughter, Linda Kay (Jimmy) Cosby, of Jessieville; sister-in-law, Nellie Jean Crumpton, of Mountain Pine; grandchildren: Cynthia (Kyle) Coombs, Kristina (Kenny) Shelton, Chris (Desha) Reddin, Melissa (Doug) Owen, Brandi (Nelson) Mendez, Sean Crumpton, Mychal (Kimmie) Crumpton, Mary Ruth Silvers, Kenny (Angel) Shelton; nephews, Michael (Angie) Crumpton and Mark (Lora) Crumpton.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday at Caruth Village Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Joe Harvey and Pastor Larry McNeely officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery.
Pallbearers are grandsons and nephew, John Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Garland County and Ouachita County Fox and Wolf Hunters, Association, Dark Corners Hunting Club and all those who shared his love for hunting.
