Calvin Brown, Jr, 38, of Gary, Ind., died Wednesday. He was born Dec. 23, 1930, in Union County, the son of Calvin and Gertrude Allen Brown Sr. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in El Dorado. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Verna Jean Brown; one son, Alvin Curtis Brown, both of Detroit, Mich.; his mother, Mrs. Gertrude Brown, El Dorado; eight brothers, Claborn Brown, Michigan City, Ind., William Brown, Nashville, Ark., Doss Brown, Gary, Ind., L. B. Brown, Milwaukee, Wis., Melvin Brown, El Dorado, Hudson Tatum, Chicago, Ill., Timothy Tatum, Cleveland, Ohio, and Floyd Tatum, Little Rock; one sister, Miss Bernell Brown, El Dorado. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in New Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Evans officiating. Burial will follow in El Bethel Cemetery, Three Creeks, under the direction of Sims Mortuary. (El Dorado Times - February 13, 1969)
