Husband to Martha Clara (Glenn) Hunter. Son of Jimmy Hunter and Lela (Jones) Hunter Bailey.



Leon Gene Hunter, 82, of Lynn, died March 16, 2009, at his home.

He had lived at Lynn since 1947 and was the son of Jimmy Hunter and Lela (Jones) Hunter Bailey. He was the manager at Farm Service in Lynn for many years and a cattle farmer. He served on the Lynn School Board for 21 years and was a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Martha Glenn Hunter; a daughter, Martha Jean Durham, Lynn; a son, James "Corky" Hunter and wife Geniave, Lynn; six grandchildren, David Durham and wife Kellie, John Durham and wife Libby, Andy Durham and wife Ashley, Ricky Hunter, Samantha Hunter and Jordan Hunter; and six great-grandchildren, Shea Durham, Morgan Durham, Rachael Durham, Tyson Durham, Makayla Durham and Tanner Durham.

Funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church at Lynn with John Durham and Terral Neeley officiating. Burial will be in Dry Creek Cemetery at Lynn under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home of Lynn.

Pallbearers will be David Durham, Andy Durham, Rickey Hunter, Jordan Hunter, Ronnie Helms, Taylor Helms, Cameron Durham, Keith Geurin and Tyson Durham. Honorary pallbearers will be Van Deeter, James Daniels, Bob Dixon, Harold Morgan, Gerald Richey, Jerry Matheny and Scott Wright.
