Mrs. J. M. (May) Barbaree, 79, of Rt. 4, El Dorado, died Monday night in a local hospital following a long illness. Born May 1, 1890, in Lawson, she was the daughter of Frank and Barbara Ellen Ward. She had been a resident of El Dorado for the past 42 years and was a charter member of the Centennial Methodist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Thomas D. Wagnon and Mrs. Ferry B. Kelly, Jr., both of El Dorado, Mrs. Lavelle Perkins of Modesta, Calif.; five sons, Aubrey A. Barbaree of El Dorado, Homer A. Barbaree and Wendell Barbaree, both of Modesta, Elmo L. Barbaree of Guymon, Okla., Maurice O. Barbaree of Oran, Algiers; one brother, Henry W. Ward of El Dorado; a sister, Mrs. Esta Barbaree of Lewisville; 17 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Funeral services will be announced by Rumph Mortuary. The family will be at the Thomas D. Wagnon home at 822 Crawford St. (El Dorado Times - May 6, 1969)
