Billy Cates, 67, of Conway, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014. He was born Feb. 15, 1947, in England, Ark., to James Cates and Eunice Epperson Cates. Mr. Cates was a member of Cornerstone Bible Church in Conway. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, volunteering for an extended tour of duty in Vietnam.He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Margaret Jones; and a brother, Lawrence Cates. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Sandra Cates; daughter, Tamara Cates-Leising (Brian) of Central, S.C.; son, David Shannon Cates (Lana) of Greenbrier; and grandchildren, Lauren Leising, Katelin Leising, Haley Carpenter, Sara Cates and Lilly Cates. Other survivors include sister, Pat Jones (Jimmy) of Little Rock; brothers, David Gene Cates of North Little Rock and James Darrell Cates of Washington State; along with a host of extended family and friends.Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at Bishop-Crites Funeral Home in Greenbrier.Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at Cornerstone Bible Church, 1095 Dave Ward Drive in Conway, with Bro. Pat Hughes and Bro. Mike Ford officiating. Burial will follow in Needs Creek Cemetery. Jimmy Weldon, Roger Hjelden, Mike Elrod, Mike Elrod Jr., Mike Warren and Mike Hightower will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Danny Graham. Arrangements by Bishop-Crites Funeral Home of Greenbrier, 501-679-4400.
