Mrs. Mattie Dorman Purtle, 87, died in a Magnolia hospital Sunday. She was the widow of C. E. Purtle and a retired school teacher. Mrs. Purtle was an active member of the Baptist faith and a charter member of the Grace Baptist Church on East Main Street. Survivors include two sons, A. D. Purtle, Sheridan, and the Rev. H. A. Purtle, Magnolia; a daughter, Mrs. Idelle Warren, Kansas City, Kan.; two brothers, Green Dorman, Bodcaw, and G. B. Dorman, El Dorado; three sisters, Mrs. George Herrin, Mrs. Grady Fuller, both of El Dorado, and Mrs. David Stewart, Haynesville, La.; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Providence Memorial Baptist Church near Hope with the Rev. D. D. Fairchild and the Rev. Chester Bullock officiating. Burial will follow in the Lainburg Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home. The body will remain at the Bailey Funeral Home until 10 a.m. Tuesday. (El Dorado Times - April 21, 1969)
