Theda Mae Womack Lawhon, 89, of Melbourne, Arkansas died Saturday, October 10, 2015, at Cross Ridge Hospital in Wynne, Arkansas.
Born May 19, 1926, in Zion, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Estel E. Wiles and Lola Mae Ford Wiles.
She was owner of a general mercantile store at Sage with her husband, Ray Von Womack. Before retirement, she was director of the Izard County Senior Citizens Center at Brockwell. She was exceptionally skilled at sewing and tailoring and enjoyed playing rook. She loved cooking for her family, especially rolls and fried pies. She volunteered much of her time in community service. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Coy Womack and his wife, Debbie of Sidney, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Rusty Stroud of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Laney Stroud of West Plains, Missouri, Terry Womack of Pleasant Plains, Arkansas, Vicki Haas and Amanda Bledsoe, both of Melbourne, and Codi Hellums of Sidney, Arkansas; fifteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alvin Wiles of Sidney and J. R. Wiles of Thayer, Missouri; two sisters, Vernee Duckett of Sage, Arkansas and Katie Pendleton of Alexander, Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Ray Von Womack and Pete Lawhon; a daughter, Lola Gay Stroud; a son, James Ray Womack; a grandson, Jason Dale Stroud; a brother, Noble Wiles and a sister, Glenna Fay Hellums.
The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at Midway Baptist Church in Melbourne with Bro. Alvin Wiles and Bro. Gene Baird officiating. Burial will be in Caney Springs Cemetery at Sage under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Melbourne.
Pallbearers will be Levi Stroud, Cole Stroud, Brice Taylor, Dalton Womack, Clay Womack, Blake Bledsoe, Landon Haas and Sterling Breckenridge.
Honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of the Midway Baptist Church.
Visitation is from 12:00-2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 13, 2015, Tuesday at the church, prior to the service.
NOTE: Theda Mae Wiles Womack Lawhon was buried beside her first husband Ray Von Womack, and the gravestone is inscribed as Theda Mae Womack even though her surname was Lawhon at the time of her death and the obituary gives her name as Theda Mae Womack Lawhon.
