ROGERS — Alto "Al" V. McCarty III of Rogers passed away Sept. 29, 2013, at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born Oct. 6, 1938, in Helena, Ark., the son of Alto V. McCarty Jr. and Jane Burns McCabe McCarty.

He owned and operated Al McCarty Jewelers with his wife, Carolyn. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 4th Knights of Columbus, and charter member of the Rogers Optimist Club and Ducks Unlimited.

Al served in the United States Army for three years; he enjoyed spending time with this family and especially his three grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and his church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Elliott McCarty; and one sister, Jane McCarty Maudslay.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years. Carolyn; daughter, Lee Boyd and husband, Mike; son, A.V. McCarty and wife, Nina; and three grandchildren, Michelle Hope Boyd, Madison Alexis and Olivia Ann McCarty.

Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with Monsignor David LeSieur officiating. Private interment will follow in the St. Vincent Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. and Rosary services at 7 p.m. today at Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. Fourth St., Rogers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Parkinson Association or the charity of your choice.
