January 15, 1893 - December 25, 1969
Henry Goad, 77, died about 4 p.m. Christmas morning in a fire of undetermined origin at his home four miles east of Camden on the Hampton Road. Goad lived alone. Goad is survived by one sister, Esther Lusby of Camden, two nephews, L.G. and Gerlad Barnes of Camden, and a niece, Mrs. Lillian Loe of Fairview. Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Proctor's Chapel. The Camden Fire Department dispatched men and equipment to the scene, but firemen reported that the roof was falling in on the small frame house when they arrived. Goad, a veteran of World War I, was born at Troy. Burial was in Riddick Cemetery near Troy. (Camden News - December 26, 1969)
