Samuel H. Jones, age 86, of Russellville, died Sunday, January 23, 2011 at the Russellville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born October 8, 1924 at Hector to John Allison and Hattie Mae Boland Jones. He was a retired lineman for AT&T Telephone, a United States Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Rogers-Rye Post 2283, a member of the Lion's Club and Central Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Bill Jones, two sisters, Lela Weedin and Geraldine Cochran, and a grandson, Colt Jones.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Katherine Jones; a son and daughter-in-law, Sam Allison and Brenda Jones of Dardanelle; a daughter, Sandy Kremp of Russellville; a sister, Bernyce Morton of Russellville; four granddaughters, MaRya Hunnicutt, Chelsea Spears, Samantha Jones and Lauren Jones, all of Russellville; and two great-grandchildren, Madalynn Spears and Emry Hunnicutt.
Graveside service and burial conducted by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville will be at 10 A.M. on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Appleton Cemetery officiated by the Rev. Don Erwin. Military honors will be provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Rogers-Rye Post 2283.
