Daughter of Oliver Montgomery and Dolly Mae Johnson Mangrum
Vashti "Sammy" Hillis, age 89, of Maumelle, Arkansas, passed away at Baptist Springhill Hospital on January 23, 2013. She was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi, and moved to Caraway, Arkansas at the age of 9 where she attended school until the 11th grade.

Sammy worked several years in the food-service industry and also Beech Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas.

She is preceded in death by her first husband Clabe Rasdon and husband Cacye Hillis, parents O.M. Mangrum and Dollie Mae Johnson Mangrum; brothers, Jack and Rubin; sisters, Myra and Grace; children, Robert Doyle Rasdon and Wanda Bowers; grandchildren, Barbara "Sam" Scholz and Craig Rasdon.

She is survived by son; Gerald Rasdon of Russellville; daughter, Debbie McGee of North Little Rock; grandchildren, Susan, Treva, Denise, Robert, Kari, Gary, Greg, Neva, and Jonathan; 22 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Sammy was a strong, courageous, wife, mother, and friend, who cherished her time spent with those close to her.

She was a member of the Marked Tree Garden Club, was active with the Appleton Lion's Club with her late husband Cayce, and a member of the Appleton Presbyterian Church. She will be deeply missed and always loved. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Maumelle Heath and Rehab for providing excellent and professional care over the past several years.

Service will be held at the Appleton Presbyterian Church on January 26th at 2pm, Pastor Randall Williams officiating.
