SHAFER, Elizabeth - Died of dropsy of the heart, Elizabeth Shafer, on the 25th of April 1800 at the age of 61 years, 8 months and 8 days. She was born in Butler county, Ohio. From thence the family removed to Montgomery county, Indiana where she was married to Joseph Shafer, the choice of her youth. From thence they moved to Madison county, Iowa and from thence to Washington county, Arkansas where, after a protracted illness and intense suffering, she peacefully passed away, possessing her right mind even in the very agonies of death. On Sabbath morning at 8 o'clock she fell asleep in Jesus after bidding farewell to her relatives and friends and admonishing all to meet her in Heaven. Funeral services were held at her late residence by her request. Before removing her remains the funeral discourse was delivered by Rev. A.J. Stumbaugh from the 4th chapter and 18th verse of 1st. Thess. Sister Shafer was an affectionate wife, a kind mother and a devoted christian. She leaves a husband and nine children to mourn her loss with broken hearts. W.A.T. Sentinel please copy.
