Charles Sidney Hill was born Sept. 28, 1937, to David B. Hill Sr. and Irene (Ledbetter) Hill at the Hill home in Martinville, Ark. He was found in that final sleep at his home on Thanksgiving Day, having made his famous pecan pie before going to bed the night before.Charles was known for his fun loving nature, always a story to tell and always there to help when he was needed. Charles lived life fully. He loved family and especially the antiques and pieces of his growing up on the farm. He was a talented craftsman and enjoyed any type of firearm.He is predeceased by his parents; former wife, Beverly; brother, D. B. Hill Jr.; sister, Faye Moreno; grandson, Jordan; and beloved, Gert.Survivors include his children, Rodney Hill (Kathy) of Clinton and Kevin Hill (Jenn) of North Carolina; daughters, Jeanie Hill, Karen Hill, and Sharon Vosburgh of Maryland; sister, Jean Dyer of Charlottesville, Va.; two special nieces, Sherry Stelling of Afton, Va., and Emily Hill of Martinville; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and Babe, his beloved dog.Todd Stephens will conduct a memorial for Charles at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, at Roller-McNutt in Greenbrier, with visitation following. Charles was a proud veteran of the Army and will be remembered this day by the Honor Guard. Charles' ashes will be placed in Martinville Cemetery by family in the Spring.In lieu of flowers, you may remember Charles by contributing to the Martinville Cemetery, Humane Society, or charity of your choice.
