Erma Allene Hogue Burks, age 87, of Springfield, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011. She was born October 5, 1923, in Fingertown, Arkansas, a daughter of John T. Hogue and Maci Mae Drake Hogue. She was a homemaker, member of Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, and the widow of John A. Burks.
Survivors include her daughters, Karen "Kay" (Burks) Simmons and husband Roy A. of Mabelvale, and Phyllis G. (Burks) Sims and husband Eddie of Springfield; brother, Floyd "Bud" Hogue and wife Mary of Visalia, California; grandsons, Gregory E. Simmons and wife Rene� of Hurst, Texas, and Rusty M Sims and wife Kelly of Springfield; granddaughters, Shawnya K. (Sims) and husband Clayton Rogers of Jerusalem, Alicia Leeanne (Simmons) and husband A.J. Neppl of Conway; two great-grandsons, Trey and Jackson Sims; four great-granddaughters, Brittney and Shannen Simmons, Dusti Sims, Calleigh Rogers, and Maci Neppl; two step-great-grandsons, Christopher Rogers and Adam Hawkins; two step-great-granddaughters, Courtnie Jones and Kathryn Hawkins; two step-great-great-grandsons, Aiden Jones and Jude Rogers; special caregiver, Katie Bradford.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Hayes Hogue, Sr. and Herbert Hogue; four sisters, Ovie (Hogue) Epperson, Chloe (Hogue) Hawakawa, Eula (Hogue) Rowell, and Willie Mena (Hogue).
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at the Springfield Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Roy Landers officiating. Burial will be at Martinville Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, at the funeral home.
