Ruby Sams passed away June 9th at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock Arkansas at the age of 78. Ruby was born August 19th, 1933 in Cleveland, Arkansas, the fourth of four children of Walter and Flarra Elam. She is preceded in death by her sisters Irene Webb and Emogene Williams and brother Joseph David Elam. She is survived by her husband, Marvin Sams, son Keith Sams and wife Mary, and two grandchildren Timothy Sams and Jennifer Sams.

Marvin and Ruby were married May 1951 in Morrilton, Arkansas. They lived in Arkansas until moving to Wilcox Arizona in 1966. Ruby received her masters of education degree from University of Central Arkansas in 1970. A lifelong member of the Church of Christ, Ruby was a respected educator who taught elementary school for 35 years, retiring in 1990. Marvin and Ruby moved to Martinville, Arkansas in 1990 enjoying retirement.

Ruby's funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 14 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier. Burial will follow in Martinville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Sams, Kevin Sams, Steve Beene, Dewayne Wise, Brian Williams, Gary Lucas and Terry Lucas.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Rue Garrett and David Elam

Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home-Greenbrier 679-2575.
