Heartsill "Cap" Gilbert, age 91, a resident of Russellville, died Thursday, September 9, 2010, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.

He was born May 13, 1919, at Appleton to Roy and Ollie Hollabaugh Gilbert. He was retired from Sugar Creek, served in the U. S. Army during WWII, and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 64 years, Laverne Hallum Gilbert; two brothers, Raymond and Lyle Gilbert; a great-grandson Zachary Osborne; and a son-in-law, Harry O. Alvis.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Anna Jo Alvis, of Russellville and Rebecca Lou and Troy Coffman of Hector; five grandchildren, Tammy Brown, Karen Burgess, Harry G. Alvis, Troy Coffman III, and Leslie Coffman; and six great-grandchildren, Colton Osborne, Alex Burgess, Landen Coffman, Hunter Coffman, Maggie Alvis, and Anna Clare Alvis.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 11, 2010, at the Appleton Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Randell Williams and Bro. Troy Coffman officiating. Burial will be in Crossroads Cemetery near Appleton, under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers will be Harry G. Alvis, Troy Coffman III, Sonny Sumers, Louis Burgess, Charles Hallum, and Greg Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be David Hallum and the retired truck drivers of Sugar Creek.

Lavern Gilbert, age 84, of Russellville, died Friday, January 2, 2004, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. A daughter of the late Charles Henry and Ethel Johnson Hallum, she was born September 26, 1919, at Appleton. She was a seamstress and homemaker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers: Bill and Fred Hallum; a sister, Myrtle Hallum; and a great-grandson, Zachary Osborne. Survivors include her husband of sixty-four years, Heartsill Gilbert; two daughters and sons-in-law: Anna Jo and Harry Alvis of Batesville, Arkansas; and Rebecca and Troy Coffman of Hector; a sister, Betty Williams of Russellville; a sister-in-law, Bobbye Hallum of Appleton; and six grandchildren: Tammy Brown of Russellville; Karen Osborne of Conway; Harry Alvis of DeQueen; Troy Coffman III and Leslie Coffman, both of Hector; and Colton Osborne of Conway.

Funeral will be 2 P.M., Monday, January 5, 2003, at the Appleton Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. A. E. "Bo" Coffman officiating. Burial will be in Crossroads Cemetery near Appleton, by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
