Alonzo Rooney, 84, of Guy, went to be with the Lord Tuesday Dec. 1, 2015.
He was born Nov. 8, 1931 in Mt. Vernon to the late John Franklin and Parlie Fulton Rooney.
Mr. Rooney was also preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Beverly Robertson Rooney, three sisters and three brothers.
Mr. Rooney was a longtime member of Greenbrier Church of the Nazarene and was employed with Universal Nolan up until his retirement. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Rooney is survived by his three sons, Daniel (Sherry), Keith (Gretchen), and Steven (Kristy) Rooney all of Guy; one sister, Dorothy Haney of Quitman; grandchildren, Bryan Rooney (Lori) of Conway, Heather Pierce (Daniel) of Guy, Leah Collie (Hunter) of Beebe, Arkansas, Bryttani Manning (Trey) of Kilgore, Texas, Kevin Rooney (Amanda), Joey Dobbs (Brittney), Brandon Rooney, and Melissa Rooney, all of Guy; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3 at Copperas Springs Baptist Church in Guy. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the church, with Brother Jim Sanders and Brother Bryan Jones officiating.
Burial will follow at Copperas Springs Cemetery.
