Quitman boy dies after brief illness
Lloyd Wayne Bivens, 10-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ferron Bivens of Rt. 1, Quitman, died at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock Sunday (May 23, 1971).
The child, while at play, got too hot Thursday and became ill. He first was removed to a Heber Springs hospital and then transferred to Little Rock. The results of an autopsy have not been announced.
Lloy was born Aug. 17, 1960, at Conway. He was a fifth grader at Guy-Perkins Elementary School and was a member of the New Home Baptist Church.
Also surviving are a brother, Andre Howard Bivens, and two sisters, Nancilla Ann and Judith Andrea Bivens, all of the home; his gradparents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Bivens of Quitman and Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Battles of Guy, and his great-grandmother, Mrs. Nora Bivens of Conway.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the New Home Baptist Church with the Rev.Paul Byers and the Rev. Paul Yarnell officiating. Burial was at Copperas Springs Cemetery by McNutt Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Billy Henry, Wes Short, Jim Herring, Jerry Hinkle, Kenneth Ingram and Tommy Ingram.
