Edwin Bentley Bivens was born December 21, 1922 to Alfred H. and Nora Dejarnatt Bivens in Guy, AR. He died Friday, May 29, 2009 at Salem Place Rehab Center in Conway, AR.
He was preceded in death by wives, Alta Carter and Louise Bailey, great-grandson, Landon Bivens, brothers, Howard, Herman, Jarrell and J. D. Bivens, sisters, Eva Fielder, Maxine Sims and Ada Clendenin.
Bentley served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the Free Masons. He retired from Southland Building Products of Little Rock in 1984. Bentley lived in North Little Rock and Wynne before moving to Conway in 2008.
He is survived by children Gary (Meri), Paulette Templeton (Ray), Edwin (Marilyn) and Greta Houston (Ben) ; step-daughters Diane Custer (R.L.), Cindy Benefield (Wayne), 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, one sister, Nina Carter, many nephews, nieces and a special niece, Gayle Davis.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier. Interment will follow at Copperas Springs Cemetery in Guy.
Visitation is Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
