MARLAR, J.H. - (from Prairie Grove) Died, Tuesday evening at his home here, Capt. J.H. Marlar, at a ripe old age. Mr. Marlar had been in very poor health for several months but was confined to his bed only a few days. He had been president of the First National Bank but resigned some months ago on account of failing health. The body was laid to rest Wednesday at Cane Hill under the auspices of the Masonic order. A large number of friends accompanied the body to Cane Hill.

State of Arkansas Confederate Pension Archives
Mrs. M.A. Marlar, widow of J.H. Marlar, who died June 28, 1910, filed Widow Application #21656 with the Confederate Pension Board of Washington County for a Confederate widow pension and it was received as allowed August 16, 1917 at the State, citing her husband’s service with the 22ndArkansas Infantry from date of enlistment thru 1865. Mrs. Marlar died May 11, 1939.
