Mrs. Cora Elliott Matheny, 83 of 234 Agee Ave. SW died Monday afternoon in a Pine Bluff hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Camden and a member of a pioneer family. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. Mrs. Matheny is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Lehner Dorsett of Pine Bluff; two sisters, Mrs. A. R. Shattuck of Rosedale, Mississippi and Miss Sattie Smith of Camden; two grandchildren, Mrs. Anne Dorsett Slaton of Magnolia and Edward Lehner of Pine Bluff. Mrs. Matheney was the widow of Walter Stanton Metheny. She was born August 30, 1886 to Mrs. Cora Maude Elliott Smith and Hamilton Gallatin Smith in Camden. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church. (Camden News - September 2, 1969)
